Since the late 90's Markus's mainstay has been the band CENTROZOON, alongside long-term musical partner Bernhard Wostheinrich, and periodically English singer Tim Bowness (of seminal art-rock band No-Man).

The band has attracted numerous celebrity fans, including guitarist David Torn, and King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, with whom Markus has in recent years collaborated extensively both on stage and in the studio under the name TUNER.
